The 2009 season was a character builder for the Harness Brothers. For starters Will had to move out of the 50" 4-6 division and into the super competitive 7-11 year old 70cc classes. He got stronger every round and finished up at Lorettas with a season best 4th overall in the 70 cut class. He also finished 8th in the points for the season in the 70cc Modified/Shifter Class. Considering that he was the only 7 year old in that division, he will be a force to be reckoned with in the years to come.

Ryan's season started out great with a win at Pell City Alabama, and a 2nd in Bowling Green KY. He headed into round 3 in Danville VA with the points lead. All of his hard work was paying off but Ryans hopes of another championship quickly faded as Ryan had a hard crash that severely dislocated his shoulder. The Doctor said his season was over. This was Ryans toughest challenge of his young life and carrier. Ryan rehabbed every day. He missed 3 rounds but returned to finish on the podium in the last 4 races and ended up in the 3rd overall for the year in the 70cc modified class. Ryan has decided to skip football this season and continue to work on strengthen his shoulder and getting faster on his quad. Ryan plans on making his dream of a 2nd National Championship a reality in the 2010 season.
